Joseph Little Architects
are committed to being at the forefront of environmentally sustainable design and construction in Ireland. We design, build and promote best practice, healthy and low and zero carbon approaches to building.

We focus on creating buildings that are not only light-filled, elegant and practical, but also highly efficient in energy use.

We design using a range of standards including the Passive House Standard and a wide range of building materials appropriate to each context – be it a sensitive conservation project or a new structure with timber frame and hemp-lime walls.

Our focus on high standards and environmental practice has led to the creation of the Building Life Consultancy initiative.

We’re very proud to say that in late 2012 our deep retrofit & extension of a Monkstown semi-D was certified to 'EnerPHit' standard by the Passivhaus Institute of Germany. It is the first ‘Passivhaus’ or ‘EnerPHit’ retrofit to be certified in Ireland & only fifth ‘EnerPHit’ in the world.

The BER (building energy rating) of this house is 90% lower than before works commenced. It has loads of light and is very comfortable. It also features a high quality ventilation system with heat recovery, external insulation, innovative Irish triple glazing, low carbon construction, gravity-fed rainwater harvesting (inside the house), and solar panels.

Call us today for a consultation about your low-energy new build or energy-efficient retrofit project!
